Priorities Research
priorities are set jointly and reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and
the Scientific Advisory Board. Our current research priorities are as follows:
- To identify the FA genes and their products and to understand their functions,
interactions and roles in producing the clinical manifestations of Fanconi anemia.
- To
advance clinical research studies to improve FA diagnosis, therapy, and disease
prevention.
- To determine the causes of bone marrow failure in Fanconi
anemia, and to develop strategies to prevent, treat and cure bone marrow failure.
- To
define the molecular pathogenesis of clonal evolution, carcinogenesis, and leukemogenesis
in Fanconi anemia, and to develop strategies to prevent, treat and cure leukemia
and other cancers.
- To support the creation of shared resources and technologies
for the international Fanconi anemia research community.
