Research Priorities

Research priorities are set jointly and reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and the Scientific Advisory Board. Our current research priorities are as follows:

  • To identify the FA genes and their products and to understand their functions, interactions and roles in producing the clinical manifestations of Fanconi anemia.

  • To advance basic and clinical research studies to improve FA diagnosis, therapy, and disease prevention.

  • To determine the causes of bone marrow failure, myelodysplasia and leukemia in Fanconi anemia, and to develop strategies to prevent, treat and cure these disorders.

  • To define the molecular pathogenesis of clonal evolution and carcinogenesis in Fanconi anemia, and to develop strategies to prevent, treat and cure Fanconi anemia-associated malignancies.

  • To support the creation of shared resources and technologies for the international Fanconi anemia research community.
