Complete DNA sequencing of the Fanconi anemia patient tumors

2019 | The Rockefeller University | Research Grant

Amount Funded: $90,862

Fanconi anemia patients have a very high predisposition to head, neck, and anogenital squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). To understand how these cancers develop, Dr. Smogorzewska and team are cataloging genetic changes that are present in the cancers. They are using the latest DNA sequencing technologies to identify point mutations as well as structural variants that have contributed to the development of these cancers. Illuminating the abnormalities in the cancers allows the team to identify potential therapeutic targets that may be effective for treating Fanconi anemia patients.
